Strobl’s immersion pumps are axially fed, end-suction centrifugal pumps available in single- or multistage designs. They are installed vertically with the pump head submerged and the motor kept dry. Alternatively, submersible motors can be used for areas at risk of flooding. The pumps are fully constructed from cast iron or stainless steel, and all wetted components are corrosion-resistant and media-compatible.
Discharge ports are equipped with flanges according to EN 1092-2 or ANSI B16.5; suction inlets usually feature strainers, while VS6 variants have flanged inlets. Maximum immersion depth is approx. 25 m without suction pipe extension. Motors are IEC-compliant asynchronous motors (IMV1) in efficiency class IE3; options include IE4, NEMA Premium, or ATEX-rated motors.
The liquid is drawn in axially, accelerated by the impeller, and discharged under pressure. The outlet pipe is routed either externally or internally above the liquid level. Flow rate and pressure depend on impeller geometry, pump curve, and system losses and can be adjusted via speed control or bypass systems. Typical performance: pressure up to 16 bar, flow up to 360 m³/h, viscosity up to 150 mPas, power 0.55–110 kW, solids content up to 25% (depending on size and impeller type).
Applications include chemical and petrochemical industries, water treatment, offshore plants, and tank or pit drainage. VS4 versions can be combined with free-flow or channel impellers for solids-laden media. Shaft sealing is achieved by throttle, dry-running gas seal, or single/double mechanical seal. Magnetic coupling is possible for VS1/VS6 variants but must be technically evaluated due to gas accumulation risks. Special materials like duplex, super duplex, or superaustenitic steels are available on request.
